  Where is Subarctic located?
                        
  • It is found only in the Northern Hemisphere.
  • It stretches accross northern North America from Newfoundland to Alaska.
  • Found in northern Eurasia from Scandinavia through most of Siberia.


    Why is it found here?

  • It is found here because there is no large landmass at the same latitude in the Southern Hemisphere.

Altitude

  • Altitude also has a part to play, the higher up a mountain you go, the colder it gets. For every 1,000 feet above sea level there is a 4° F drop in temperature.

 











    Latitude

  • Found in high latitude.
  • Located in large continental landmasses  between 50°-70° latitude.
  • In high latitude, north oif the Arctic Circle, and soth of the Antarctic Circle, the sun never rises during large portions of the year.
